Looking for some sexy books? Here's how to disable the Adult Filter on Amazon #eroticromance #erotica

Hello readers! I'm not sure how many of you have noticed that Amazon has started using an adult filter on their books, but they have. And three of my books (under two names) were not searchable except via a direct link. That means, if you're looking for a book with adult content, but can't find the direct link on the authors website, you likely will not be able to find the book.

Now, not all adult books have been filtered like this. Only those with covers that show any form of nudity, or someone touching a woman's breasts. I imagine this is just the beginning.

While I'm not opposed to the books having an adult filter on them (I do have kids), it would be nice for Amazon to give adults an option to turn off this filter. And they do, but it's not that easy to find. On the Love Romances Cafe Yahoo Group today, Dawn Roberto posted a way to remove the filter. Here's how:

1. Login to your Amazon account. (Just your basic account, not an author or publisher one.)

2. On the SEARCH drop down menu, select "Kindle Store".

3. Search for the title of a book you know has been adult filtered. (In my case, I used Sexy Suitors from Space.)

4.  You should receive the message "Your search contains adult items which have been hidden. If you wish to see them, click here."

5. Click on "click here" on the Amazon site.

This will enable your adult content again. That is, until you clean your cookies. Then you'll have to do the process all over again, or tell your browser cleaner to leave the Amazon cookies alone.

Happy Reading!
Paisley

Helpful info. What is WITH Amazon that they keep tagging all these books?

I'm not sure why they suddenly decided to do this. It would have been nice for them to have given authors and publishers notice though. Readers, too, as I'm sure they're are quite a large percentage who enjoy adult stories.

I didn't get that when I searched on your book. Odd. Know any others that have been tagged as adult that I can try?

Thanks for the tip - passing it on!

Interesting. Not that I read books of this nature often, but I tried to search Amazon for you book. Can't find it at all. This is what I get:

Your search "Sexy Suitors from Space" did not match any products.
Related Searches: paisley brown.

So I click Paisley Brown link and get furniture, belts, and anything with Paisley on or in it's name.

Ah. Never mind. I got it to work. Okay. All is good. But crazy Amazon. There should be just a setting you can manage for your kids, not just change everyone.

Uh...not sure you're aware, but your heroine is suddenly wearing clothes on Amazon too.

I did what you said in a general search under "books" The book came up with no problem, it just has the woman in the picture on the cover wearing a shirt!?

Hi Cassandra, Megan Slayer's "Cuffed" has also been filtered. Under my other name, I had two filtered, but the publisher unpubbed them and is going to pub them with a new cover and more to try and avoid the filter this time.

I totally agree, Melissa! It's so much easier to deactivate the adult filter on Smashwords.

Seleste and Robbin, Yes, I had my cover artist add a shirt to the heroine for Amazon only, hoping it would make a difference. Though, it doesn't seem to.

I wondered when I saw the shirt on her. Thanks for posting this info.
